Measure the tub, the narrowest opening and each turn between the spa and the loading point. One generous gate does not help if the path narrows around an air conditioner or wall.
Start with the full footprint
Record the tub's widest and longest points, including protruding cabinet trim. Note the height if an overhead patio cover or gate header crosses the route.
Walk the actual exit path
Measure gates, side yards and tight turns. Photograph steps, pavers, landscaping, utility equipment and any place where the tub cannot travel straight.
Mark what cannot move
Air-conditioning units, gas meters, electrical panels and fixed fencing need space around them. Do not plan a route that blocks required utility access.
